WHAT’S AHEAD FOR 2024?

Happy New Year! We enter 2024 with adult-use cannabis finally legal in Ohio. It’s going to be quite a busy and exciting year for the industry, and astrologically!

So what’s ahead in January? We start the calendar year with a Mercury Station and end with a Uranus Station this month, both going Direct ending their Retrogrades. Could that mean smoother sailing for the month ahead? Read on tho find out…

SO MANY PLANETS IN CARDINAL EARTH

Following Mercury Stationing Direct on January 1, moving back into Capricorn on the 13th, Mars also ingresses into Capricorn on January 4. Later in the month on January 23, Venus also moves into Capricorn. This makes January a heavily Saturnian month, which it usually is. Saturnian energy is long-term oriented; the energy of realists who are patient, careful, skeptical, and thoughtful.

Capricorn is a zodiac sign that thrives on stability, sustainability, and structure. With the Sun joined by the other personal planets Mercury, Mars, and Venus, we’ll feel a closer connection to the essence of Cardinal Earth.

There will also be a New Moon in Capricorn on January 11. Passing by so many other planets in the sign, this could be a great time to manifest, organize, implement a new system or routine.

IN HEALTH-RELATED ASTROLOGY

In health-related astrology, Capricorn rules the bones, skin, connective tissue, nails, cuticles and teeth. Capricorn-related issues include arthritis and fibromyalgia, and gallbladder inflammation. Research and reach for supportive nutrients this Capricorn season.

New research has shown CBD can help support bones. Main Street Health Capsules 1:10 THC:CBD are a great way to get that boost. They are in stock at Uplift dispensary in Milford and lots of other locations across the state.

Strengthening and fortifying are big themes for Capricorn. For those struggling with the pain of osteoporosis—a well-defined Capricornian issue—heavy indicas like Klutch’s Blue Cheese can offer optimal pain relief. Check out Klutch’s The Citizen dispensaries in Lorain and Canton to get the best prices.

While Ohioans can all use cannabis now, only MMJ patients can access dispensaries for most of the 2024 calendar year. So it’s a good time to consider renewing or finally getting that card.

PLUTO AND SUN MOVE INTO AQUARIUS: FIGHT TO MAKE PROGRESS?

On January 20, Pluto moves back to the zero-degree of Aquarius. Pluto had moved into Aquarius last year, but Retrograded back to Capricorn. Now, it’s made progress forward once more. This will not be the last time that Pluto will Retrograde into Capricorn, so this can feel like a fight to make progress. Aquarius is a humanitarian sign that cares deeply about other people’s freedom and autonomy. Pluto is all about revolutionary change, but such that’s been on the wings for a while. For those with fixed, air, or fire placements, this will feel most recognizable.

This same day, the Sun moves into Aquarius, forming an exact Conjunction at 0 degrees of Fixed Air. The Sun and Pluto together are intense, to say the least. Aquarius represents the energy body, and healing techniques like the chakra system and acupuncture meridians

MIXING IT UP: TRY A NEW PRODUCT OR DEVELOP A NEW SKILL

Lean on the mysterious and eccentric side of Aquarius and consider trying a new type of medicine, especially if what you have now isn’t hitting. If you normally reach for edibles, try a tincture, syrup, or infused beverage. Maybe you try a new cannabis cultivator all together? King City Gardens hit shelves just this week, offering Blueberry Muffin, Tropical Runtz and many other absolute fire strains. You may already be familiar with the head cultivator if you’ve been an MMJ patient for a while. Exploring new options for your wellness would be well-timed with the illuminating change of the planets this month.

As Ohio makes progress towards a regulated legal market for adults 21+, this is a great time to get involved in activism and integrity in the industry. MedicateOH launches our third offering of our Cannabis Writers’ Workshop on January 29th. If you’re looking for an opportunity to flex those writing chops or show off your home grow knowledge, this is a great chance to do that! Scholarship applications are due January 8th.

URANUS STATIONS DIRECT, LEO FULL MOON

On January 25, the Moon in Leo will oppose the Sun in Aquarius giving us a Full Moon in Fixed Fire energy. It will not be for another six months that a lunation occurs in this constellation; and then, it will be a New Moon.

Generally, Full Moons mark a time for releasing. With Leo ruling this Full Moon, a grand display of emotions, feelings, and intuition may be at your disposal. Leo is associated with the Sun in astrology, often looked at as an “opposite” energy to the Moon. A Leo Full Moon marks a time to let your feelings be known; express your passions and embrace joyful activities.

Feeling inspired under the Leo Full Moon? The best strains for creativity tend to have terpene profiles that include pinene, linalool, and beta-caryophyllene. Grab something like Appalachian Pharm’s Runtz Berries and let your creative juices flow! Leo, after all, is tied to the Fifth House which is theater, expression, passion, and playfulness.

LAST EXACT TRANSIT: 1/27

The last exact transit of the month is when Uranus Stations Direct on January 27. The eccentric planet of the unexpected and inspired has been Retrograde since August 28. Now, it once again makes progress in the domain of Fixed Earth Taurus. This will not be the last of Uranus’s Retrogrades in Taurus, where it will be transiting until April of 2026.

Uranus can overstimulate the nervous system, so it you could benefit from medicine that helps you regulate. Anxiety-relieving terpenes like Mycerene will be beneficial to curb those experiences.
