September has come in like a cool breeze, and it brings with it a packed month of astrology. Backwards ingressions, an eclipse and an equinox all flavor this month’s forecast. Cardinal and Mutable signs tune in – because these areas of the constellations will see most change. Read on…

NEW MOON AND FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE
On September 2, a New Moon in Virgo awakened the Mutable Axis setting off eclipse season. The Sun and Moon aligned at 11° of Virgo just before 10 p.m., marking the final New Moon of the summer. Virgo Moon people are often described as efficient, clever and practical, much like Virgo Sun people.
During a New Moon in Virgo, there can be an anxious need to get things organized (especially around the home, or with finances). If anything feels “stuck” or “delayed” this New Moon will no doubt stir up solutions. Virgo is very methodical and calculated, so it’s important to not get too caught up in the details and allow for some serendipity.
Combat anxious feelings with tried and true terpenes like Alpha-Pinene and Humulene. Test out “The Cream” flower from Certified, or Hundred Percent Labs’ Himalayan Kush Crumble Infused Grateful Breath for sweet relief that won’t put you to sleep.
PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE 9/17
Later in the month on September 17, a Full Moon in Pisces once again activates this Mutable Axis. Though this time, it’s an opposition between the Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces at 25°. Not just any old Full Moon, this is a Partial Lunar Eclipse. Usually, Full Moon’s reflect the full light of the Sun, but during a Partial Lunar Eclipse that light is slightly obscured.
Full Moons are for energetic releasing, and Pisces has a magical way of connecting to the subconscious. This is an exceptional time to explore a cleanse, Moon Water rituals, sleep journaling, dance/movement and gardening – because yes, you can still garden in the Fall!
Note: This Partial Lunar Eclipse sets the stage for a Total Lunar Eclipse during Pisces season on March 14, 2025. A dramatic planetary pileup in Pisces will oppose a Virgo Full Moon during the time of that Blood Moon which we’ll get into closer to that time. Whatever comes up during the September lunation will likely emerge again in March.

REVERSE, REVERSE PLANETARY STYLE
The first exact transit of this month was September 1, when Pluto moved back to the 29th degree of Capricorn. Pluto has long since been playing with Cardinal Earth energy – since 2008.
Though we have seen its forward motion into the sign of Fixed Air Aquarius, a Retrograde spanning May to October has set back that progress. Two months from now in November, Pluto will leave Capricorn for the rest of our lifetimes. It won’t be for approximately 200 years from then that Capricorn will re-enter this domain.
Prominent Capricorn placements most certainly dealt with the pain and process of Pluto throughout this long transit: destruction, transformation, death, birth, taboos, sex, occultism, and magic. Before we look at the grand finale of this Pluto transit, this Retrograde beckons us to use the “Rule of Re’s.”
Identify Capricorn’s rulership in your chart – aka which House starts with this zodiac signs – and note any planets positioned in that House, or significant angles (like a Rising Sign) that Capricorn is connected to in your chart. Pluto’s transit through Capricorn represented the need for (harsh) reality checks. Is there something that you’ve yet to face? The closing of this cycle represents both and ending and beginning.
On a far more common note, we’re also seeing the effects of Mercury Retrograde continue on this month. For the second time this year, Mercury ingresses into the sign of Virgo where it first Stationed Retrograde on August 5 and ended August 28. This transit takes place September 9. If a project or conversation was started and left incomplete during the Retrograde, prepare to pick it back up at this time.

CALLING ALL WATER SIGNS
On September 4, Mars moves into the sign of Cancer. This is not an ideal area of the constellations for Mars to visit. Mars, which is action-based, is associated with fellow Cardinal sign Aries. Every two years the hot, fiery and passionate planet makes a transit through Cancer.
During this time, there’s great potential for one’s motivations to become more emotional. Embodiment is a significant theme of Martian energy, so this is not a time to avoid or distract from your feelings — but face them head on. Mars in Cancer can also be a wonderful experience for those who need to invoke or renew energy around their creative pursuits.
Strains high in Limonene and Bisabolol are said to promote creative thinking. As of late, I’ve repeatedly reached for Super Lavender Butter from Seed and Strain. Classix’s Lime Sherbert vape carts and Aura’s Peach + CBC Gummies also both feature these terps.
On September 22, Venus moves into Scorpio lighting up another water sign in the sky. Venus in Scorpio is deeply passionate, perhaps even possessive. To me, Herod the Great is a great (though twisted) example of Venus in Scorpio. If you’re unfamiliar with the lore, he preserved his dead wife’s body in honey for seven years (a year shy of the length of a Venus cycle) though he himself ordered her execution.
Scorpio is a Fixed Sign, so easily stuck in its own patterns and cycles often acting out of survival mechanisms. Perceptions can deepen, and senses may strongly be activated when Venus cruises through its realm. Though it is not often quick to act, it’s eventual action can be shocking or painful, just like with the arachnid it is associated with. Move slow and cautiously, especially if interacting with new relationships. Attune to subtleties around you.

LIBRA SEASON BRINGS THE FALL EQUINOX
On September 22, the Sun moves into the sign of Cardinal Air and with it, brings the change of seasons. The long days of Summer come to a close and the nighttime hours increase as Fall cools down the northern hemisphere. Libra’s archetypes do mimic the calm and cooling of the hot summer, when fiery Leo reigns.
Here at MedicateOH, myself and our founder Gabrielle both celebrate a birthday during this solar season and use it as a chance to encourage donations to the non-profit that makes publishing this very horoscope you’re reading possible. If you’re not able to give but would still like to contrinute, please consider reaching out to us about ways to get involved!
With the Sun in Libra, the focus shifts to relationships, social settings, and often law/justice. We’re coming closer and closer to election season, and becoming more inundated with news, opinions and data. The diplomacy and truth-loving nature of Libra fairs well under these circumstances.
Libra is a Venus-ruled sign, so values are just as paramount as love. During this change of seasons, explore new avenues for supporting the things you truly care about and get involved – whether it’s activism, art or clean air. I read a Gwnedalyn Brooks (a Gemini) quote over the weekend in Chicago that said, “it’s brave to be involved” and that is so true!
This is then strengthened on September 26 by Mercury’s move into Libra. Mercury in Libra is talkative, friendly and charming. With Mercury well out of the way of a Retrograde, this energy is highly supportive of new contracts, collaborations and commitments.
Tune into the Libran vibe and find your inner “balance.” This looks different for everyone — you may need energy while I need rest. If you’ve yet to experience the “entourage effect,” explore some cannabinoid-packed products like Ancient Roots‘ Infused Honey, or AIRO brand’s Jack Fruit vape from the live flower series.

MEDICATEOH EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS THIS MONTH
During the month of September, MedicateOH will offer two free community events. These are a great way for you to get involved in the cannabis industry, learn more about your medicine, and just come vibe with like-minded individuals.
On September 21st, MedicateOH was due to be a vendor for the World’s Largest Sound Bath in Columbus on 9/21. That event has been cancelled, so we are partnering with Columbus Botanical Depot to hold our own event that day. Elevate and Educate: A Cannabis Wellness Experience will take place from 3-7p.m. on Saturday, September 21st at the Event Center of the Columbus Botanical Depot. More details and registration for the September 21st event are here.
On Wednesday, September 25th, MedicateOH will be in Cincinnati at Stanley’s Pub for Canna-Community Night. As a longtime small business and supporter of plant medicine, we are so delighted to be back at Stanley’s. The event is free and we encourage patients, caregivers, the industry, and the canna-curious to come out. We’ll have vendors, speakers, and live bands.
