“Cannabis Health Fair & Hippie Art Yard Sale” Raising Funds to Educate Ohioans About Legal Medical Marijuana Options

Following a successful PTSD Awareness Day Education event in June, the East Walnut Hills business community will once again come together to support the non-profit project Medicate OH. The community impact project was developed in 2019 to help educate patients entering the state’s medical marijuana program. It is fiscally sponsored by In(formed)/Community Shares of Mid-Ohio.
Three businesses in the East Walnut Hills area of Cincinnati will come together on September 25th from 2 p.m.-10 p.m. to host the Cannabis Health Fair & Hippie Arts Yard Sale. Ohio CBD Guy, Woodburn Brewing, and Branch restaurant will participate. Presenting sponsors for the event are One Heart Medical, a Mt. Lookout-based medical marijuana physician’s practice, and Brien Miller Law, a private attorney in Blue Ash who advocates for the reform of marijuana laws as a member of the NORML Legal Committee.

Here’s a preview of what guests can expect:

Ohio CBD Guy: Cannabis Health Fair
Ohio CBD Guy (2817 Woodburn Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45206) will bring together those who use, produce, dispense, and celebrate the cannabis plant for an afternoon educational seminar to feature legal cultivators, medical marijuana health professionals, CBD retailers, and non-profit and civic organizations. Speakers to include:
- Dr. James Weeks, a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with over 10 years in practice. In 2019, Dr. Weeks transitioned to Cannabinoid medicine and opened One Heart Medical. Dr. Weeks will talk about the various effects that cannabis has had on patients he’s seen in his practice.
- Brien Miller, a private attorney located in Blue Ash who advocates for the reform of marijuana laws as a member of the NORML Legal Committee. He educates patients considering medicinal cannabis and defends people accused of drug, alcohol and criminal offenses.
- Gabrielle Dion Visca, founder of MedicateOH, will talk about her experience as an Ohio medical marijuana patient and advocate who’s now more than two years opiate-free thanks to cannabis. Her release from her addiction helped her form the non-profit, MedicateOH, to help other patients like her.

Woodburn Brewing: Hippie Art Yard Sale
March First’s Woodburn Brewing (2817 Woodburn Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45206) will offer food and drink specials for the event as well as play host to the Hippie Art Yard Sale (HAYS), the brainchild of local artist Rachael Maupin, the Hippie Art Yard Sale will feature local small businesses, artists, and craftmakers that invoke the hippie spirit.
The Yard Sale will take place in the brewery’s beer garden. Maupin has been helping showcase the work of local artists, musicians, and other vendors with her annual Hippie Art Yard Sale event since 2020. The most recent event in May 2021 earned over 6,000 RSVPs on Facebook.
Woodburn Brewing will serve a cannabis-themed food menu including a “Blue Dream” Blue Cheese Burger (Eckerlins special blend, Mimi’s smoked bleu cheese, red onion, duke’s mayo) and a “Pineapple Express” Chicken Sandwich (Gocujang bbq, pineapple kimchee, pickled onion, fresh jalapeño). Vegetarian options include chips and salsa “For the Munchies” and “GMO” – a mushroom burger.
Woodburn Brewing bar guests may choose to infuse beers or seltzers they purchase that day with a water-soluble CBD from Ohio CBD Guy for $4 each (17mg).
A lineup of Ohio local musical acts and live visual artists will perform for Cannabis Health Fair & Hippe Art Yard Sale guests in the breezeway between Woodburn Brewing and the brewery’s beer garden. Performances to include Jen Perkins (En caustic artist), and Cajun musical act Steve & Donna Bing & Friends.
Branch Restaurant: Cannabis-Themed Menu
Branch Restaurant (1535 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45206) will feature a cannabis-themed menu for guests to enjoy while ogling the gorgeous Art Deco space the restaurant inhabits at DeSales Corner (just around the corner from Ohio CBD Guy). Architects, contractors and artists spent two years and over $1 million to design, build out, and decorate the interior of this unique building.
City Beat describes Branch in a 2019 article: The dining room graces a relatively long, narrow space that seats 72, including 20 at the bar. Above the bar sits an imposing mural commissioned for the restaurant that fits so beautifully with the original design of the room that it could be vintage 1935 instead of 2018. Created by artists Curtis Goldstein and Matt Lynch, “The Genius of Alcohol” is a Formica mosaic that depicts a fanciful take on Cincinnati in its pre-Prohibition days.

About MedicateOH: Since its inception in 2018, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program has registered more than 200,000 patients with only just over 600 recommending physicians. Lack of access to education, slow expansion, and high prices have yielded numerous challenges for the growing cannabis industry in Ohio. MedicateOH seeks to close the gap in knowledge between patients, doctors, and businesses through journalistic articles, educational events, and accessible content.
