Jackson, Ohio medical marijuana processor Appalachian Pharm recently expanded their operation to cultivation. Patients may be familiar with Appalachian Pharm’s processed products licensed under the Vapen, Major, Wynk and Countdown brands.
Appalachian Pharm
Since 2021, Appalachian Pharm has been licensed to provide medical marijuana to Ohio dispensaries. Their state-of-the-art production facilities in Jackson, Ohio produces premium Vapen brand vapes, concentrates, syrups and edibles, along with multiple innovative drink lines. Patients may recognize the Vapen brand as well as Wynk, Countdown, and Major, the additional beverage lines also produced by Appalachian Pharm.
In March 2023, Appalachian Pharm cut the ribbon to open their Herbal Wellness dispensary (also in Jackson), which had previously been operating under the name Buckeye Botanicals.
Appalachian Pharm received their Tier 1 cultivation license in November 2022, and began growing high quality flower in their 25,000 ft space. Their first four flower strains have recently been introduced in the Ohio market: Honey Bean (Appalachian Pharm’s proprietary genetics), Runtz Berries, Peanut Butter Mac, and The Glove.
HoneyBean
Honey Bean is a unique cross of Vanilla Bean x Honey Trees. This indica dominant strain’s major terpenes comprise of Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene. Honey Bean has sweet vanilla flavors with slight berry nuances, and this intriguing strain fills the nose with lavender and herbal aromas.
Runtz Berries
A unique cross of Runtz x Strawberry Fritter, this evenly balanced hybrid boasts a gorgeous purple kaleidoscope of buds with a beautiful highlight of fine, fiery orange & brown pistils. Sweet & tropical aromas hit the nose, while fruity & citrusy notes of intense berry & strawberry flavors – along with tropical, almost mango-like undertones, delight the senses! Limonene, B-Myrcene & B-Caryophyllene.
Peanut Butter Mac
Peanut Butter Mac is a cross of Peanut Butter Breath x M.A.C. It’s an evenly balanced hybrid with major terpenes Terpinolene, Caryophylene, Myrcene. Earthy and nutty with a rich herbal undertone of pine and woody flavors.
The Glove
The Glove is an Indica Dominant cross of Gary Peyton X Cali Sunset. Major Terpenes are Limonene, Caryophyllene, Linalool. Citrusy lemons and diesel flavors accented by spicy blueberries and fresh earthiness, this strain favorite hits the nose with rich and earthy diesel aromas.

Appalachian Pharm’s recently-built new cultivation facility is adjacent to their processing lab, also located in the beautiful region of Jackson, Ohio’s Appalachian Mountains. Nestled within a converted mushroom plant, their state-of-the-art facility is ready to take their operation to the next level.
Appalachian Pharm’s cultivation team is led by a highly experienced head grower with a remarkable decade of expertise in the legal market along with extensive prior experience. The Director of Cultivation holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in plant breeding from UC Davis, specializing in vegetable research.
This profound knowledge and understanding of plant genetics equates to the curation of exceptional strains with superior qualities. With a commitment to innovation, Appalachian Pharm utilizes cutting-edge technology to oxygenate the water, ensuring optimal nutrient absorption for the plants while preventing bacterial growth.
Attention to Detail
Appalachian Pharm’s team prioritizes quality and pays attention to detail throughout the facility. They firmly stand by the importance of patience, which means never rushing the curing process. This maintains the integrity of the terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids. For the well-being of the plants and the patients, they also refrain from using pesticide chemicals, but may occasionally use neem oil products.
