Resident Medicate OH astrology expert Alex Pearson gives us the monthly low-down on what to expect when it comes to the stars. As this Gemini Retrograde persists, Alex says “it’s wise to truly nourish yourself with exercise, food, and plant medicine”.

The Outlook for January

The horoscope for January can be summed up in three words: earth sign stelliums. The Sun, Mercury, and Venus will illuminate the Capricorn zodiac while the Moon, North Node, and Uranus do so in the zodiac Taurus. These earth signs bring together two different modalities of energy: Fixed (steadfast) with Taurus and Cardinal (motivating) with Capricorn.

What We’re Going Through the Month

If you have Capricorn or Taurus in any of your big three placements (your sun, moon, or rising), expect to be feeling a lot of weight this month. Cardinal Earth wants us to strike up a new routine and think about the long-term, which the Sun, Mercury, and Venus together can successfully accomplish. Meanwhile, the Moon, Uranus, and North Node emphasize the need to adjust the way we relate to others, and how we care for ourselves. Expect sudden changes.

For those who will feel a direct impact of these earth stelliums on their birth chart, I have one piece of advice: nourish your body. Your physical body. The earth signs remind us how important it is to bring awareness to our physical selves (as well as the Earth, the Planet Earth, as well).

Cannabis Products to Consider: Edibles and Tinctures

Enjoy the fruits of our beautiful earth like cinnamon, sweet potatoes, and steel-cut oats (which can all be combined in one recipe, by the way!) for sustained, wholesome energy.

When it comes to medicating this month, heavy THC strains with terpenes like Linalool may emphasize your sluggish vibe during the daytime. Instead, reach for a terpene like Limonene for some pep.

Try Farmaceutical RX’s 1:1 Lemon Ginger Open Mind Gummies. Infused with clean and potent FRX Delta-9 distillate, these THC:CBD gummies are organic, gluten-free, and vegan. One Orijin’s 440mg Blood Orange Tincture is a heavy Sativa with blood orange flavor. A potent tincture can be a great alternative for those not wanting to vape or inhale their cannabis medicine.

Handling Retrograde

This month, the planet Mars remains in Retrograde in the sign of Gemini. It will continue its back-and-forth journey there for a few more months until March. Mars represents bodily energy levels, blood cells, and appetite. Gemini is a Mutable Air Sign, expressing itself in an impressive, flow state but often overlooking the care of the physical body. As this Retrograde persists, it’s wise to truly nourish yourself with exercise, food, and plant medicine.

Calming yoga flows, as well as meditation and breathwork, will do the body well this month. Some of the best foods to reach for are turmeric, ginger, garlic, beets, and especially pomegranate, which is currently in season. Staying in sync with nature has endless benefits.

Cannabis Products to Consider: Flower and Capsules

Mars in Gemini can really trigger the nervous system. Pick up a soothing strain like Klutch Cannabis’s White Truffle. This Indica-dominant strain (80:20 Indica/Sativa) comes from an unknown cut of Gorilla Butter and features an earthy-piney aroma profile. This strain also contains Ocimene terpenes which are proven to be anti-inflammatory. Pinene also delivers an anti-inflammatory effect, in addition to antioxidant and neuroprotective properties.

Wellspring Field’s Dr. Feel Better’s Strawberry Lemonade Elixir is one product made for setting that perfectly relaxed vibe for cold nights spent inside. Its resealable can packs a punch with 50mg of THC, including a nice dose of CBN— great for the evening. Beneleaves 220mg Entourage Effect Capsules are another great choice for balanced relaxation. The all-natural coconut oil carrier provides complete and quicker onset of action since it breaks down entirely and can be absorbed more effectively than a traditional cannabis edible.
