A well-known cultivator and processor among dispensary visitors, Akron, Ohio-based Klutch will launch a new brand called “Habitat by Klutch” just before the 4/20 holiday. Hitting Klutch dispensaries in Lorain and Canton along with a few additional stores on Wednesday, April 16th, the Habitat brand will roll out soon thereafter to dispensaries all across the Buckeye state. With a focus on flavor, accessibility, and lifestyle branding, Klutch welcomes this opportunity to reach consumers in a meaningful, approachable way.

A Welcoming New Habitat

In a recent conversation with MedicateOH, Klutch Cannabis’s Vice President of Compliance and Communications Pete Nischt shared how the new brand will differ from what Ohio patients and consumers have seen from the Klutch brand, which launched in 2020.

So what is Habitat by Klutch all about? Nischt emphasized that Habitat isn’t just a name—it’s a vision that complements the cannabis products that Ohioans already enjoy but also makes space for newcomers to explore. “We’ve always made really high-quality cannabis products, but we felt we wanted to do something that really spoke to a broader audience,” he explained.

“Part of our passion for what we do stems from helping customers discover how cannabis can enhance their own quality of life – just like it enhances ours. For those who are curious, the first step can feel daunting. Habitat is our answer to that,” Nischt said. “It’s about creating a brand aimed at meeting people where they are. We wanted to give people who may have never considered trying cannabis the chance to find their place here. The focus is on creating products aimed at fitting seamlessly within your own ‘Habitat,’ and we aim to accomplish that by making great cannabis products that are more accessible, easier to understand, and more enjoyable to use.”

The brand’s mission is especially clear when it comes to welcoming newer consumers—people who might be intimidated or overwhelmed by the complexity of dispensary menus or unsure about product selection. “We want to serve the people who walk into a dispensary and have no idea where to start,” Nischt said. “We’re creating a new experience that says, ‘Hey, it’s okay. We’ve got you.’”

Flavor and Function: The Future of Cannabis Products

Nischt explained the philosophy behind the product lineup, which will include flower, edibles and disposable vaporizers. “The focus here is entirely on you as a consumer. People want great flavor, they want to know what’s in it, and they want a predictable experience they can trust,” he said. “We’re creating products that check all those boxes.”

A major part of this approach involves Habitat’s new line of edibles and vapes with entry-level dosages, gourmet flavors, and premium ingredients that cater to different lifestyles and needs. “We’re really focused on flavor and ease of use,” Nischt noted. “From the ingredients we choose to how the products are packaged, we’re thinking about how to make it enjoyable from the first look to the last bite or hit.”

Navigating the Dispensary: Habitat as a Guide

For many cannabis users—especially those new to the scene—dispensary menus can be daunting. Klutch is addressing that challenge head-on. “Dispensaries have hundreds of products, and most people don’t know where to begin,” Nischt said. “We wanted Habitat to be like a friend guiding you through it.”

He pointed to new offerings like the Habitat disposable vape line as examples of where flavor, accessibility, and convenience come together. “This new form factor tastes great. It’s discrete, it’s super easy to use, and you can take it anywhere,” he said. “It’s about giving people a comfortable entry point into cannabis without sacrificing quality.”

Strategy That Scales: A Stepladder for Every Consumer

Nischt explained that Klutch’s overall product strategy is built around a “stepladder” approach—products that meet people where they are and grow with them. “Whether you’re just curious or you’ve been a cannabis consumer for years, we’ve got something that fits what you’re looking for,” Nischt said. “That could mean a lower-dosed Habitat gummy that’s perfect for a first-timer, or a high-terp Klutch concentrate for someone more experienced.”

This strategy is reflected in everything from product design to packaging. Where consumers may be used to Klutch’s classic bold black and gold design, the Habitat line will be more vibrant. Expect bright, colorful branding and clear, user-friendly labeling with the Habitat brand. “We chose the name ‘Habitat’ because it directly ties to our mission. We want you to feel at home with us,” Nischt shared.

Rolling Out Across Ohio

So when can consumers expect to see Habitat on shelves? According to Nischt, “We’re aiming for a launch on Wednesday, April 16th, and rolling out across the state after that. This will happen in phases, but we’re really excited to see how people respond.”

As Klutch steps into this next phase, the focus remains on building a cannabis experience that’s enjoyable, inclusive, and easy to navigate. “At the end of the day, we want people to feel good—not just because of the product, but because of the whole experience,” Nischt said. “That’s what Habitat by Klutch is all about.”
