King City Gardens has expanded its footprint in Ohio’s cannabis market with the opening of its first branded dispensary, The Garden, located in Cincinnati’s Camp Washington neighborhood. The new store officially opens October 18th with fifty percent (50%) discounts for patrons who shop that day.

From Cultivation to Retail

Based in Forest Park, a northern suburb of Cincinnati, the Ohio cultivator King City Gardens (KCG) operates from a renovated former Kmart and Laser Tag facility on OmniPlex Drive. The site houses its state-licensed cultivation and processing operations.

A relative latecomer to Ohio’s medical cannabis market, KCG began cultivation in 2024 but quickly established itself as a respected, locally-owned operation focused on quality and consistency. The company’s rapid growth reflects the opportunities that emerged as Ohio transitioned to a dual medical and adult-use cannabis system and the tenacity of a team that didn’t operate in multiple states.

With The Garden, King City Gardens has entered the retail side of the market for the first time. The Camp Washington location serves as the flagship dispensary and the first store under The Garden brand name.

Earlier this year, KCG also purchased Off the Charts dispensary in Dayton. That location remains open under its existing name but is slated to be rebranded as The Garden in the coming months, bringing it in line with the company’s expanding retail identity.

The company’s ownership group—which includes partners who launched the former Have a Heart Cincinnati dispensary (now Zen Leaf) and several well-known local investors—worked together to develop The Garden’s layout and brand approach. The concept emphasizes accessibility, education, and community engagement, while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

The media got a sneak peek at The Garden dispensary at 2927 Colerain Avenue in Camp Washington, Cincinnati. The store will have a grand opening celebration on Saturday, October 18th.

Expansion Plans

In addition to its Camp Washington and Dayton locations, King City Gardens has begun construction on a third The Garden dispensary in Sycamore Township, expected to open by the end of 2025. The company plans to continue expanding through 2026 but intends to keep ownership and management local to Ohio.

Each dispensary will share the same open, approachable design while reflecting the character of its surrounding neighborhood.

Layout and Customer Flow

The Garden’s layout departs from the traditional dispensary model, which typically separates waiting and sales areas. Instead, customers enter directly into an open, well-lit space where they can view displays, interact with staff, and browse products at digital kiosks. The setup is designed to make the experience straightforward for both new and returning customers.

Employees are stationed throughout the store to help guide visitors, answer questions, and provide product recommendations based on customer needs.

Training and Education

All staff members completed training through Seed Talent, a cannabis industry education platform focused on compliance, product knowledge, and customer service. The Garden plans to host regular vendor education days and product demonstrations to keep both employees and consumers informed about new offerings and best practices in the Ohio market.

The Garden dispensary in Camp Washington will have a drive-thru window for added convenience.

Products and Partnerships

The Garden features a wide selection of products, including King City Gardens’ own G Brand flower line. The company also collaborates with former NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones on the Pack 24 brand, which features strains such as Donkey OG and Blueberry Muffin.

Alongside its in-house offerings, The Garden carries a rotating selection of products from other Ohio-based cultivators and processors. So far, flower products have been the store’s top sellers, aligning with consumer trends across the state.

Payment and Ordering Options

Customers can order online or shop in person, with a drive-through pickup option for convenience. Payments are accepted in cash, via debit (through cashless ATM), or digitally through Spendr, a Cincinnati-based platform that offers purchase rewards.
