As the Ohio cannabis market continues to mature, Cleveland-based processor Standard Farms is doubling down on its commitment to flavorful innovation. Their latest release—a line of high-dose 50 mg chocolates—is designed specifically for those who require potent relief without the premium price tag.
In a recent interview, Standard Farms’ Ohio Sales Manager Blake Brandon shared why this launch is a significant milestone for the Buckeye State. From superior bioavailability to cost-effective dosing, here is why these chocolates are set to become a staple for local consumers.

Meeting the Demand for Potent Relief
For many medical patients managing chronic conditions, standard low-dose edibles often fail to provide the necessary therapeutic effect. Standard Farms developed these 50 mg doses to ensure that those with higher tolerance levels have a streamlined, effective way to medicate.
“We want to make sure we’re taking care of the patients who need that higher dose,” Brandon noted. He emphasized that these new chocolates are a “great way for patients who need higher doses to achieve pain relief to get their medicine in a delicious way.” By offering a higher concentration per piece, patients can achieve their wellness goals more efficiently.
While there are lots of high-dose gummies available on dispensaries menus in Ohio, very few cookies or chocolates exist. Brandon notes that they are providing a different experience for users with the new line of high-dose chocolates.

The Science of the “Body Experience”
One of the most frequent questions patients ask is why they should choose chocolate over a gummy. According to Brandon, the answer lies in the fat content. Because cannabinoids are fat-soluble, the cocoa butter in chocolate acts as a natural delivery system that changes how the body processes THC.
“The fat content in chocolate gives a different body experience than a gummy,” Brandon explained. This unique interaction often leads to a deeper, more sustained sensation of relief. It is this specific physiological benefit that Brandon says many patients have noted why they say they favor chocolates over gummies.
Consistency and Affordability: A Budget-Friendly Solution
While Standard Farms is well-known for its award-winning live rosin products, the company intentionally chose high-quality distillate for this chocolate line. This decision was driven by two main factors: dosing precision and consumer cost.
“Because we’re using distillate as a carrier, it makes it more consistent for dosing,” Brandon said. For patients who rely on exact measurements for symptom management, this consistency is vital.
Furthermore, using distillate allows Standard Farms to pass savings on to the consumer. As Brandon pointed out, “It comes in at a lower cost than a full-spectrum or live rosin product, which is important for budget-conscious shoppers.”
Starting with S’mores
Standard Farms will offer the chocolate in both a traditional bar and in squares. The 500 mg THC High Dose S’mores Bar is now available in dispensaries, pictured below. Another option coming soon will be the S’mores High Dose Chocolate Squares. These will be just 2 pieces at 100 mg THC total per package, with 50 mg THC per piece. With several chocolate flavors to choose from in their broader line, they chose to offer the highest-selling first in higher doses. Wholesale Manager Suzanna Thallman explained, “S’mores quickly became our #1 Chocolate Bar flavor after launching the Chocolate Bar line-up so we decided to launch with a familiar favorite.”
Clean Ingredients, Premium Quality
Despite the accessible price point, Standard Farms refuses to compromise on the integrity of their ingredients. The brand remains dedicated to a “clean label” approach, ensuring that what patients put into their bodies is as pure as possible.
“We use high-quality distillate and ethically sourced chocolate,” Brandon shared. He further clarified that “everything is made with natural ingredients, no artificial flavors or preservatives.”
We Tried It: MedicateOH Reviews the 500 mg S’Mores Bar
By combining pharmaceutical-grade consistency with artisanal chocolate-making techniques, Standard Farms is proving that high-dose medicine can be both a luxury experience and an affordable necessity for Ohioans. Whether you are seeking deep physical relief or a reliable, budget-friendly edible, these new 50 mg chocolates offer a delicious path to wellness.
Personal Experience: The S’mores blend of chocolate was creamy with a velvety texture that melts in the mouth. The bottom of the bar is dusted with a Graham cracker coating. The distillate taste was present, yet not pronounced. The chocolates are portioned out into squares that snap easily in case you want a smaller dose.
The packaging is much like any chocolate bar you’d find in the grocery store, with a cardboard outer container. Instead of a wrapper, the bar is contained in a plastic case that can be resealed to keep it fresh. It was easy to open and reclose.
The effects from the THC for this review lasted about 2-3 hours and felt lifted, focused and a little giggly. Your own results may vary.

Try the Whole Line
The new high-dose chocolates compliment Standard Wellness’s diverse line of processed cannabis products, focusing on high-quality extraction and artisanal edibles. Their catalog is designed to cater to various needs, from high-potency concentrates to flavor-focused treats.
Here is a breakdown of their main product categories:

Edibles & Baked Goods
Standard Farms is particularly well-known in Ohio for its “chef-quality” approach to edibles, using high-quality distillate to ensure consistent dosing without a strong cannabis aftertaste.
- Chocolates: They offer exotic and gourmet flavors such as Key Lime Pie, Biscoffee, Ube Coconut Crunch, Dark Chocolate Velvet Berry, and White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake.
- Baked Goods: Their lineup includes artisanal cookies like Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip.
- Specialty Edibles: They also produce honey packets and “Standard Hybrid” gummies (e.g., Wildberry 2:1 CBN for sleep or Tropical Fusion 5:1 CBD). We hear that peanut butter packets may return too–although nothing is certain just yet.
With a market full of gummies, Standard Farms is the only Ohio company offering a baked alternative, Thallman noted. “We are currently the only Ohio-based company offering a true baked good option in the market. And doing it right! Just like grandma—we even use some of our Chef Eric’s grandma’s recipes!”
In response to strong demand from high-dose patients and customers, Standard Farms will soon be launching high-dose cookies in Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip, too, said Thallman.
Vapes & Inhalables
The brand provides several hardware options and extract types, ranging from budget-friendly to premium solventless options.
- Live Rosin All-in-One (AIO): Their premium “dab-on-the-go” option. These are small-batch, solventless extracts housed in specialized hardware (like the CCELL Voca Pro) designed for thick oils. Popular strains include Dirty Taxi, Blue Zushi, and Gastro Pop #4.
- Distillate Cartridges & AIOs: These provide a consistent, high-potency experience at a more accessible price point. Common strains include Afghan Kush #47, Sunburst, and Stargazer.
- Luster Pods: A popular Ohio-specific hardware format, available in various distillate strains like BluBanPan.

Flower & Pre-Rolls
While they are heavy on the processing side, they also offer flower options for traditional users.
- Whole Flower & Smalls: Available in various sizes (including 14.15g “half-ounce” bags). Common strains found in Ohio include Cindy 99, Earthquake, and Pink Certz.
- Pre-Rolls: The team has been working on developing convenient, ready-to-use options for patients and consumers due to be dropping around the 4/20 holiday.

Concentrates & Tinctures
For those seeking versatile or fast-acting relief, Standard Farms provides several liquid and concentrated formats.
- Tinctures: Options include Peach Mango, Butterscotch (often in 2:1 CBD ratios), and specialized “Daytime” formulas with added vitamins.
- RSO (Rick Simpson Oil): Available as a high-potency Mint RSO tincture or in a Klik dispenser for precise oral dosing.
- Distillate : Pure, refined oil that can be used for dabbing, vaporizing, or adding to food. Packaged in a Klik dispenser, similar to the Dablicator device.
Key Quality Standards
- Natural Ingredients: They avoid artificial flavors and preservatives in their edible lines.
- Ethical Sourcing: They use ethically sourced chocolate for all their bars.
- Distillate vs. Rosin: They use distillate for edibles to maintain flavor purity and live rosin for vapes to preserve the full-spectrum terpene profile of the plant.
