As we dip into the second month of our calendar, our MedicateOH Astrologer-in-Chief reminds us that it’s actually the twelfth and final month of the horoscope. Putting yourself out there, clearing up misinformation, and community collaborating could all be forthcoming with this Aquarian energy, so Alex highlights some complimentary products, events and opportunities to consider:
SECOND MONTH, BUT TWELFTH ASTROLOGICALLY
February is a curious month. Though the Gregorian calendar says this is the second month of the year, astrologically, this is the twelfth and final month. Instead of a beginning, it’s an end. Then, the cycle repeats itself as it has for millennia.
HEAVY AQUARIUS ENERGY COMING THROUGH
Aquarius season kicked off January 20 when the Sun moves out of Cardinal Capricorn. This month, a few other planets ingress into the domain of Fixed Air.
The first to do so is Mercury on February 5. Mercury is the planet we associate with communication, idea sharing, problem solving, local communities and siblings. Aquarius’s associations with freedom, humanitarianism and unconventional approaches may inspire your conversations and connections with others.
This could be a useful time to put yourself “out there” in a way you have yet to try. Although Aquarius can thrive in independent settings, relationships with other people are a part of the human experience and it too craves it.
Make a point to visit a patient education day at a dispensary near you; mark your calendar for industry events where you can network. Aquarius energy does thrives when like-minded groups of individuals come together.
FEBRUARY 9: NEW MOON in AQUARIUS
Just a few days later on February 9, a New Moon in Aquarius takes place. New Moons are when the Sun and Moon are exactly conjunct. On this night, there is no Moon to be seen as the Sun’s light is completely blocked. It’s quite popular to manifest around this energy, visualizing the Moon filling with light as intentions become fulfilled.
Mars moves into Aquarius days later on February 13. Venus joins the Sun, Mars, and Mercury in Aquarius on February 16. At this point of the month, just over halfway through, we now have what we call a stellium. This means more than three planets are located within one zodiac.
Nervous system overwhelm may surround this heavy Aquarius energy. The function of our nervous system includes so many different areas of the body. So when it’s not properly soothed and tended to, it can create other problems. Symptoms like inflammation, pain and mood or behavior problems are very common.
Fortunately for us, terpenes like Beta-Caryophyllene and Myrcene are pretty easy to source in Ohio dispensaries. Additionally, including cannabinoids like CBN, CBG and CBC into your medicinal routine can offer noticeable relief. I recently tried Standard Farms Orange Daytime tincture with Vitamin B12, and though it can take a few doses of a tincture to achieve the desired effect, this one really delivered. The effects of CBC in this product were more noticeable than expected.
THEN IT’S PISCES TIME TO SHINE
When the Sun moves into the watery domain of Mutable Pisces on February 18, a shift in energy unfolds. Within a birth chart, Pisces (and it’s ruling planet Neptune) has similar associations to that of the Twelfth House. This otherworldly realm represents our sleep, dreams, imagination, intuition, psychic abilities, consciousness altering and blurring of boundaries.
Generally speaking, Piscean or Neptunian influences are not well suited for exploring more intense medicinal treatments. In fact, this could be a beneficial time to ease back on high levels of THC and lean more into heavier doses of other cannabinoids.

On February 23, Mercury moves into Pisces. In some forms of astrology, Mercury is considered in “detriment” when coursing through the sign of Pisces. This is because it’s the opposite sign to it’s natural ruler Virgo; square to Gemini. For the artists and writers out there, this could be a time where inspiration floods the imagination. WATCH FOR MISINFORMATION
It could also be a time where misinformation drives really important topics into an abstract, confusing perspective. We saw this recently with Governor DeWine’s attack on hemp products. In a press conference, he showed black market products that blatantly misrepresented the items on shelves at trusted retailers. The very next day on February 24 the final exact transit of the month takes place. This is a Full Moon in Virgo. I want to emphasize this Lunation because later in the year on September 17, we have a Partial Lunar Eclipse during Virgo season when the Moon will be in Pisces.
Look in your birth chart and find where Virgo and Pisces are located. This is where this Full Moon will take place, and also where the Eclipse later in the year will too. Whatever the Houses that these zodiac signs engage (and any planets you have there) represent the areas of your individual life undergoing remarkable change this year.
