Catfish was one of the first strains that I purchased when I got in the program, and it still remains a constant staple in my stash. Catfish is produced by Akron’s Klutch Cannabis (formerly Calyx Peak), a Level 2 Ohio cultivator. The Catfish strain is part of Klutch’s “Josh D” line of premium cannabis flower.
One of the most popular sativa-dominant strains in Ohio, Catfish was bred in Michigan by breeder Midnight Roots as a backcross of OG #18 and was awarded Best Sativa in the 2014 High Times Cannabis Cup held in Michigan. Catfish is well-known for its extremely pungent aromas of jet fuel and citrus, which result in an irregularly high terpene profile along with the desired effects of a strong sativa. Catfish exhibits a bud structure more typical of OG Kush varietals, along with a thick coating of greasy white trichomes.
Indica/Sativa Ratio: Sativa (70/30)
Terpenes: Myrcene, Limonene, Caryophyllene, Linalool, Pinene
Catfish is nothing special to look at. Small, bright green popcorn sized nuggets, with tiny orange hairs, and a light coating of trichomes.
Catfish’s aroma steals the show. Sweet, yet resinous with hints of pine, fuel, citrus, black pepper, fertilizer, and skunky undertones. Once I ground it, the smell intensified as it begged to be vaped.
I have my vaporizer on high. Its flavors are on par with the aroma. Flavors of sweet orange quickly turn to a peppery pine rosin, and diesel fuel finish. The vape fills the air with a sweet, funky, skunky aroma.
Catfish leaves me feeling energetic, happy, clear headed, able to socialize, and it gives me the munchies.
I find this to be a good daytime strain. Just beware, it was my experience that if you dose too much, this strain can cause a severe crash, and some minor anxiety.
Catfish Strain by Klutch Cannabis: Robert’s Results
I highly recommend this strain. My only complaints would be its pricing or its designation as a “Tier II” product. (“Tier II” refers to Ohio medical marijuana products with a THC content that exceeds 23% THC.) These are complaints I’ll reserve for a rant at another time.
Hello, my name is Robert Jakubiak of Lorain, Ohio. I am an abstract artist, photographer, musician, husband, ordained minister, nature lover, and lover of life in general. Photography is my current artistic outlet. I enjoy all aspects from photographing birds, people, to abstract patterns; however I don’t like taking selfies! I also enjoy sharing my knowledge of photography with others. Check out my photography page here.

These reviews are only a reflection of one patient’s experience and are not meant as guidance to treat any condition.
Many new medical marijuana patients are encouraged to try new strains, forms, and varieties of marijuana to judge their effects until they find a consistent product that manages their condition reliably.
