Bloom Massillon’s Location: Towne Plaza
The building has been home to a few different businesses over the years, but the Bloom team has completely renovated it from the ground up. Bloom’s Community Outreach & Retail Marketing Manager Savannah Nelson explained, “Our goal was to create a fresh, welcoming space where people feel comfortable the moment they walk through the doors.”
The new store sits at the tip of downtown on Federal Ave., conveniently located in Towne Plaza—an area every Massillon local knows. “Right next door is Bella Sera, a beloved Ma and Pa Italian restaurant, and we’re also within walking distance of the Massillon Transit Center,” Nelson explained. “We’re proud to be the very first dispensary in Massillon. Until now, the closest option was in Canton, so being able to provide access right here in the community feels both exciting and meaningful.”
Massillon Store A Welcome Addition to Bloom Family
Bloom’s Training and Development Manager, Lisa Burton emphasized that the Massillon team will be able to share their collective knowledge from serving medical patients in their other dispensaries across the state. “Massillon’s opening has given our budtenders the chance to grow into management roles where they are supporting new staff. We have a great mix of Bloom team members already rooted in the culture alongside new employees bringing fresh energy, and that combination makes Bloom Massillon really special.”
Austin Leite, General Manager of Bloom Massillon, sees the new location as more than just another dispensary. Having worked across Bloom’s operations in Maumee, Painesville, and Akron, he’s bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge into the new store. MedicateOH asked what went into selecting the staff of budtenders that will serve patients and consumers at the Massillon dispensary.
“I was mainly looking for people who fit characteristics that are positive, that have the family feel,” Leite said. “I want my staff to come in here and feel like they’re part of something bigger than just a store. And when they feel that way, our guests feel it too. It’s all about people helping other people. That is my vision.”
Leite added, “I really enjoy being on the floor, assisting our guests, and providing thoughtful recommendations. Being involved with both our staff and the community is what I enjoy most.”
The Customer Experience
The Massillon dispensary is designed with accessibility and comfort in mind. The large plaza parking lot makes it easy for visitors to get in and out, and the store itself features a spacious showroom and ample seating. While there are no current plans for a drive-thru due to the plaza location, the design still emphasizes convenience and ease of access.
When it comes to the in-store experience, Savannah Nelson encourages canna-curious residents to come and soak up some knowledge in a welcoming environment.
“They can expect open arms and zero judgment.” Nelson said. “Cannabis can feel overwhelming, and that’s why we’re here—to keep it approachable and easy to understand. Bloom partners with cultivators and vendors to host regular Lunch and Learn programs for staff and in-store education days for the community. “We appreciate the support from our vendor partners, and the role they play in education.” Burton added, “Their visits help strengthen connections with both our staff and the community.”
