Regional Director of Retail for Ohio Carla Davidson emphasized the community-first spirit the team has fostered at the new Parma Heights location. “If you’re curious, stop in. From Bank to Bud: A Historic Transformation
Store Manager Nick Karayianopoulos shared his excitement as the team prepared for the dispensary to open “We’re in Parma Heights today, taking in our first delivery,” he said
“It’s the seventh AYR store in Ohio. We are really excited to be expanding access to customers in Parma Heights.” The building’s past lives are part of its charm. “It used to be a Citizens Bank,” Nick shared. “People have told us stories about opening their first savings accounts here back in the 1960s.”
The dispensary retained the original bank drive-through—now the first licensed cannabis drive-through in Parma Heights. Ayr Wellness’s cultivation facility sits just around the corner as well, completing the whole product cycle in a satisfying way. “It kind of feels like farm to table. We’ve got our cultivation site close by, so it’s really awesome to build that partnership with the people that work there as well.” Nick added.
An Open, Inviting Store Design
The Parma Heights location breaks away from the traditional “clinical” dispensary model that you may have seen across Ohio in recent years. Nick explains the new layout is wide open. “You can see the sales counter and the bud-tenders smiling at you,” Nick explained. “Lots of tall windows, natural sunlight, and no rigid queues—we want people to freely roam the space.” Customers can pre-order for medical or adult use and pick up through the drive-through window, making access simple and efficient.
Serving the West Side Community
Located near residential neighborhoods, the dispensary provides a convenient option for locals who previously lacked nearby access. “We’ll be the first one in Parma Heights, which is really exciting,” Nick said. With ample parking and easy access from Pearl Road, the location also sits close to AYR’s Parma cultivation site and other west-side landmarks.
Access to the store is easy, with plenty of parking. Once inside, visitors are guided without a queue, allowing for the medical patients to take priority. Patrons can use cash or CanPay to make their purchases and there is an ATM onsite as well.
