About Animal Mints

Animal Mints is a common strain that you’ll find at dispensaries throughout the state of Ohio. Multiple cultivators have grown it, but the consensus among reviewers is that this is normally a very high-quality product. There also are an abundance of strains that have Animal Mints as part of their genealogy, so its safe to say this strain is going to be around for a long time.

First Impressions

First checking out this flower, I was presented with all the things that most patients like to see. Larger sized nugs covered in amber trichomes with different shades of green spreading across the flower, and hairs just slightly being revealed giving the flower small orange dots throughout.

Aromas, Tastes, and Effects

Once the seal was broken, I discovered a very faint but sweet aroma with some earthy fragrances that I didn’t expect to come across. The aromas got stronger when I broke down the nugs and even revealed a somewhat minty smell.

Once I powered on my Mighty+ vaporizer, everything that I smelled was translated to a wonderful minty citrus flavor that stuck to my palate. After a few inhales, the effects set in and gave me a relaxing full-bodied high. I didn’t over-consume so I was able to keep a clear head, but felt some amazing body tingles.

Terpenes and Cannabinoids

A large group of terpenes help make this strain very effective when it comes to a hybrid. The top testing terpene was myrcene with the addition of multiple others. This tested well over 2 percent total terpene content as well as a fairly high THC of just over 28 percent. They meshed well together.

With the combination of the other cannabinoids, it gave me a full entourage feeling which is what happens when multiple cannabinoids get together. The second-highest testing cannabinoid in this strain is CBGA which is known for being called”The Mother Cannabinoid”. CBGA is the precursor to every other cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. It’s thought to provide anti-inflammatory benefits as well as being an antioxidant. Studies have been done that shows it may be useful in the treatment of diabetes.

Final Thoughts

Mint strains made an impression on me in the later months of 2021. I came across a couple that absolutely wowed me with an actual mint taste that I have never experienced. This version came from seed junky genetics which is very well known in cultivator/breeder circles. This one did not have as much mint exposed as the others that I tried, but it’s a wonderful hybrid that I will continue to look for. Thanks, Pure Ohio Wellness for growing this great strain!
